We are changing the way energy is seen and used with the Innovation to Inspiration tour
The way we interact with energy is rapidly changing. To bring this revolution to life, Direct Energy is taking to the roads in a one-of-a-kind mobile exhibit that shares the connected living experience with thousands of people across North America via the Innovation to Inspiration tour.
From California to New York, the 18-wheeler truck has now travelled nearly 53,000 miles since 2014 in order to show how the connected home or business could look in the not so distant future.
The tour recently stopped at GreenBiz’s 2016 VERGE sustainability conference in Silicon Valley (California), attracting more than 1,000 people. Once on board, visitors were able to interact with innovative products and services whether its Direct Your Energy insights tool, smart thermostats or smart lights that can be turned on and off from wherever you are. Visitors were therefore able to see first-hand how they could gain greater control and understanding over their energy which can not only improve energy interactions but cut energy use, bills and carbon emissions.
For the first time, the mobile exhibit was run completely off renewable energy generated by an onsite micro grid which included wind and solar generation alongside battery storage technology. Panoramic Power, a company we acquired last year and develops cutting-edge wireless sensors that identify ways businesses can reduce energy costs, installed their product on the micro grid to demonstrate how the sensors provide real-time monitoring of generation alongside the power draw of each product.
To share these benefits with VERGE attendees, Direct Energy participated in a panel discussion on ‘Technologies Driving Energy Business Model Transformation’ and ran sessions on ‘Driving Business Results with Real-Time Energy Data’.
