Accessibility statement for Centrica.com

This accessibility statement applies to www.centrica.com.

Centrica is committed to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion, taking sustainable and robust approaches to each of these important issues. We want as many of our customers, clients, investors, and other stakeholders to be able to access our website and we’re doing our best to ensure that this is possible while also providing a visually rich user experience.

Our Approach to accessibility

As an organisation we’re on a journey to integrate accessibility and inclusivity into everything we do. Some of the ways we’re doing this is by incorporating accessibility from the start of the website design process and engaging with relevant third parties such as the Business Disability Forum for a website audit the feedback of which has been taken account during the design and development of the latest version of the website prior to launch.

Additionally, we’ve also engaged with the Business Disability Forum for advice on accessibility best practice to ensure it’s incorporated into any website and content related activities in the future.

We’ve built our website with consideration for the many ways our guests view content, allowing users to do things such as:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

In addition to the above, we also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

We’ve made great strides, but we know there’s always more we can do.

How accessible this website is

We know some of the usability and content on this website is not fully accessible and we’re aiming to address this where practical.

Some of these include:

  • you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • not all videos have captions
  • you cannot skip to the main content when using a screen reader
  • there are limits to how far you can zoom in on the maps, while retaining full access to the clickable items, on Our Journey to Net Zero and Future Homes
