Passion for customer services led me to Customer Ops

My journey to this scheme is slightly different compared to other graduates. I joined Centrica in 2011 working for the customer complaints team at British Gas Business.

My last year with British Gas Business involved working on a project and from that, I knew I wanted to get much more involved in the operational side of things. I knew that there was no better way than the Centrica Graduate Scheme where I could really get involved. So although I graduated with a BA Hons in Accounting and Finance, my passion for customer services and experience in this area led me to joining the Customer Ops stream.

I am currently undertaking my initial three month customer facing role at PH Jones (they are part of British Gas but specialise in social housing service and repair) and it’s great to see how different businesses within the Centrica group can work together to attain the same goal. During my 3 month placement I have a fantastic opportunity to look at our customer experience from end-to-end. This includes me spending time with service and repair engineers and meeting our customers face to face.

My next role will be working as a Business Improvement Analyst in our British Gas Debt team, which is an area that will be linked to my degree background and also very different to what I'm doing now so I’m really looking forward to it.
