Project Overview
Roundponds Solar Farm is a 13MW solar PV site in the UK, generating around 14MWh of renewable electricity each year. Built in 2018 and acquired by Centrica Energy in 2023, the site contributes to the UK’s energy security and supports the transition to net zero.
The solar farm is operated and maintained by Centrica Business Solutions, with ongoing optimisation to maximise performance. In addition to generating clean power, the site supports biodiversity through landscape management initiatives, including tree planting and hosting local beehives.

Why is solar important?
Solar farms are important to the energy transition because they provide clean, low‑carbon electricity at scale, helping to replace fossil‑fuel generation and cut emissions. They can be built relatively quickly, increase home‑grown energy supply, and support energy security. When combined with storage and flexible generation, solar helps create a more resilient electricity system as renewable power increases.
