Project Overview
Profile Park is a 100 MW flexible gas‑fired power plant located in Clondalkin, west Dublin. Using high‑efficiency gas reciprocating engines with rapid start‑up capability, the plant is designed to respond quickly to peaks in electricity demand. It plays a key role in supporting Ireland’s energy system by providing fast, reliable power that improves security of supply and helps balance increasing volumes of renewable generation.
Project timeline
Centrica and Bord Gáis Energy approve over €250m investment in new flexible gas-fired generation projects, including Profile Park
Construction begins on the Profile Park power plant, including installation of gas engines and associated infrastructure
Engineering, procurement and construction activities progress across the site, alongside grid and pipeline connections
Future Plans
Profile Park has been designed to support Ireland’s longer-term energy transition. The plant is hydrogen-capable, allowing it to operate on renewable gases in the future as they become available. This flexibility means the site is expected to continue playing an important role in maintaining grid stability while progressively supporting a move towards lower-carbon electricity generation.
