Centrica Plc announces Consumer Division management changes

Centrica Plc today announces the appointment of Claire Miles as Managing Director of its Connected Home business. She succeeds Nina Bhatia who will leave at the end of January 2018.

Nina was appointed to the role in November 2015, with a brief to grow the business, attract talent and expand the range of Hive brand products and customer propositions. Having achieved much of this work, the business now has more than 750,000 Connected Home hubs installed and is ready for the next phase of its development, including further growth and international expansion.

Currently Managing Director of Centrica UK Customer Operations, Claire Miles has made significant progress in improving customer service. She began her Centrica career as commercial director of British Gas Services and went on to become Managing Director of its British Gas Energy Efficiency and HomeCare businesses.

Claire is also a non-executive director at Northgate Plc, a leading commercial vehicle hire company, and Green Running Ltd, a technology company specialising in high frequency disaggregation and data analytics in the energy sector. Prior to joining Centrica she spent 14 years in financial services, including leading credit card businesses for HSBC, General Electric and Santander.

Dave Kirwan, Managing Director Bord Gáis Energy, Centrica’s energy supply business in Ireland, will replace Claire Miles and join the UK Consumer Division as Managing Director Customer Operations.

Dave joined Centrica as part of the Bord Gáis Energy acquisition in 2014 and has extensive experience leading and transforming businesses. He has held senior management roles in Bord Gáis for 18 years and was responsible for the launch of its Northern Ireland business, Firmus Energy, the development of the Whitegate power station and the acquisition and subsequent merger of the SWS wind business. His successor at Bord Gáis will be confirmed in the next few weeks.

Mark Hodges, CEO Centrica Consumer, commented: “I would like to thank Nina for all her hard work and the significant progress made under her leadership. We wish her all the best in her next endeavour.

“Claire is passionate about satisfying the changing needs of our customers and will bring a wealth of expertise to our Connected Home business as it enters a new phase of development with many exciting opportunities ahead.

“I’m also delighted to welcome Dave Kirwan to the UK team, who is another deeply experienced and capable business leader with a customer-focused approach.”
