It’s the fifth year in a row that the business has made the top three in the utility sector and the third year that it's taken first place.
Britain’s largest public companies were asked to mark Centrica against nine measures, including financial soundness, quality of goods and services, and value as a long-term investment, on a scale of 0 to 10.
Centrica’s score of 66.6 placed it 21st out of 254 companies on the overall leader board, up 32 places from last year.
Topping this year’s table was drinks company Diageo with a score of 73.33.
