Government proposals which will facilitate the reform of the Electricity Pool have been welcomed by Centrica today. Commenting on the publication of the Utilities Bill, Roy Gardner, Chief Executive, said:
"Pool prices have been too high for too long.
"With the powers in the Utility Bill, there is a great opportunity to under-pin reform of the Pool. Customers, large and small, will benefit from the new trading arrangements, which have today moved a significant step closer.
"It is now important that the Bill becomes law this summer so that Pool reform can be in place on time in the Autumn," he said.
