Centrica has received the decision on the Data Protection Tribunal on the enforcement notice appeal which is helpful in clarifying a number of difficult issues.
We welcome the Tribunal's decision to uphold our appeal in relation to the Registrar's arguments on the lawfulness of our action.
We are also pleased that the Tribunal have agreed with us that it is fair for us to use gas data to inform customers about electricity and the benefits of a combined energy supply from British Gas.
The ruling on the use we can make of gas data to promote other products has yet to be finalised. However, we will be able to use our database to market other products and we are studying the Tribunal's requirements in this area.
