Project Overview
Sizewell C is a new nuclear power station under construction on the Suffolk coast, adjacent to Sizewell B. The project will build on existing site infrastructure and experience to deliver a next generation, reliable, low-carbon power plant.
It's being developed as part of the UK’s long-term energy strategy to replace ageing nuclear assets and support the transition to net zero. Centrica is a key partner in the project, having acquired a 15% equity stake and committed significant investment through the construction phase.
Sizewell C is expected to deliver enough low‑carbon electricity to power around 6 million UK homes, equivalent to approximately 7% of the country’s current electricity demand.
Sizewell C will create over 10,000 direct jobs at peak construction, and thousands more across the nationwide supply chain.
"This investment goes far beyond building a new power station; it's a huge commitment to Britain's energy security, our journey to net zero, and the creation of thousands of high-quality jobs nationwide."
Chris O'Shea
Group Chief Executive of Centrica
