THANK YOU to all who took part in #TweetForShelter

Wilbur says a huge thank you on behalf of British Gas to the staggering 100,000 Twitter users who got involved with our #TweetForShelter campaign which launched on Monday 28 November with this tweet from British Gas:

“Help raise £25k for @Shelter this Christmas #TweetForShelter and we’ll donate £1 per #. Tag a friend to pass it on.”

By Tuesday afternoon we had smashed our target of 25,000 mentions with celebrities, MPs, journalists, bloggers and tens of thousands of twitter users getting involved.

Because of the huge success we have increased our donation from £25,000 to £100,000. We know that every 10 minutes another family in Britain becomes homeless, so with our increased donation we can help 4,000 families with face to face advice this Christmas.

The activity has also been really positive in raising awareness of our four-year partnership with Shelter and the great work they do in the community, not just helping families facing homelessness but fulfilling their vision that aims to ensure everyone has a home they can be safe, comfortable and happy in.
