For me, this milestone reflects Centrica’s continued commitment to building a more inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive - backed by consistent action, measurable progress, and a focus on long-term cultural change.

Over the past five years, we have built on existing actions to strengthen our gender equality strategy, embedding inclusive practices across recruitment, development and retention. From growing gender balance across the company including in engineering roles to expanding support for working parents and carers, Centrica continues to push forward meaningful change across the business.

Driving progress through action

Central to this recognition is a focus on creating an environment where colleagues feel supported at every stage of their career. This includes:

• Enabling flexible working options to help people work in a way that works for them - supporting different preferences, life stages and responsibilities

• Providing industry-leading policies to enhance equity and wellbeing – whether that’s through quadrupling parental leave or providing up to 30 days paid leave for caring responsibilities when matched with annual leave and more

• Investing in development opportunities like our on-demand and live streaming My Learning Campus coupled with targeted talent programmes, to help everyone get on in their career and realise their full potential

• Building an inclusive culture with the help of our fantastic 10+ colleague-led networks and Shadow Board as well as allyship and everyday behaviours

These initiatives are helping to break down barriers and create more equal opportunities for progression across the organisation.

Building on momentum

Being recognised for a fifth consecutive year highlights the consistency of Centrica’s approach - but also an ambition to go further.

We continue to evolve our strategy, focusing not just on our 2030 ambition for our team to reflect the full diversity of our communities, but on ensuring that inclusion is truly reflected in everyday experiences for colleagues. This means listening to employee feedback, holding leaders accountable, and continuing to embed inclusion into how the business operates.

A shared commitment

I’m continually inspired by the passion and commitment I see from colleagues right across the business. From our employee networks to our leadership teams, there’s a shared understanding that building a more inclusive organisation benefits everyone, not just today, but for the future.

"For me gender equality means creating a workplace where everyone feels seen, valued and able to thrive. Being recognised in The Times Top 50 for the fifth year is something we are incredibly proud of, it reflects our ongoing efforts and the progress we’ve made. It is also a reminder of the responsibility we all share to keep building an environment where success is not limited by gender, and everyone has the opportunity to succeed."
