Centrica leading in climate change disclosure

Centrica leading in climate change disclosure

Rankings for action and disclosure on our environmental impact released by CDP.

We’re proud that Centrica has once again been identified as a world leader for strategic action on climate change by CDP, an international NGO reporting to investors.

In results recently released, Centrica achieved a place on CDP’s prestigious ‘A List’ for our action and disclosure on climate change, based on our climate change reporting in 2019. We are one of only 10 companies in our sector to have attained the highest standard.

CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognised as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency.

Want to know more? In 2019 we introduced our ambitions to tackle climate change by 2030 through:

  • Helping our customers reduce emissions by 25%, by direct (3%) and indirect action (baseline: 2015)
  • Delivering 7GW of flexible, distributed and low carbon technologies as well as provide system access and optimisation services
  • Demonstrating we are on track with Paris goals and develop a path to net zero by 2050

The Climate Change A List is published by CDP each year, alongside the A Lists for leadership on protecting forests and water security.

About CDP

CDP is a global non-profit that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. Voted number one climate research provider by investors and working with institutional investors with assets of US$96 trillion, we leverage investor and buyer power to motivate companies to disclose and manage their environmental impacts. Over 8,400 companies with over 50% of global market capitalisation disclosed environmental data through CDP in 2019. This is in addition to the over 920 cities, states and regions who disclosed, making CDP’s platform one of the richest sources of information globally on how companies and governments are driving environmental change.
