British Gas has today announced a new partnership with Broadford, a fast‑growing build‑to‑rent (BTR) property company, to help supercharge energy efficiency across the UK rental market. The partnership will deliver smarter homes designed to cut energy bills for renters and future-proofed properties for landlords.
The partnership will see British Gas provide a total solution for Broadford developments, spanning energy supply, installation and ongoing services. British Gas engineers will install a full suite of modern, energy‑efficient technologies including Samsung white goods, compatible smart technology and air source heat pumps. Solar PV panels will be installed by British Gas’ approved and accredited installation partners. 29 plots have been completed with another 160 in development.
Designed to support Broadford’s ambition to enhance both new‑build and existing properties, the collaboration brings the two companies together to deliver a seamless living experience for tenants, while helping landlords improve energy performance and future‑proof their portfolios.
“By delivering everything from installation to ongoing maintenance and protection, we’re helping Broadford future‑proof their properties while giving tenants more comfortable, energy‑efficient homes. It’s a clear example of how British Gas is supporting the transition to lower‑carbon living in the rental market, without adding complexity for customers.”
James Hughes, Director of Strategic Housing Partnerships at British Gas
As part of the partnership, British Gas will also provide comprehensive servicing, compliance and insurance cover, including heating system cover, electrical infrastructure and white goods protection, plumbing and drains. This partnership brings together British Gas’s established expertise across installation and ongoing services to deliver a fully integrated, end‑to‑end service journey for a build‑to‑rent partner – from initial installation through to long‑term maintenance and support.
James Hughes – Director of Strategic Housing Partnerships at British Gas said: “This partnership with Broadford shows what’s possible when low‑carbon heating and trusted home services come together at scale. By delivering everything from installation to ongoing maintenance and protection, we’re helping Broadford future‑proof their properties while giving tenants more comfortable, energy‑efficient homes. It’s a clear example of how British Gas is supporting the transition to lower‑carbon living in the rental market, without adding complexity for customers.”
Peter Wyatt – Partner at Broadford said: “We are excited to partner with British Gas to enable an integrated solution for enhanced and sustainable rental housing in the UK.
