British Gas has been chosen by regulator Ofgem to supply customers of PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy and will ensure that they continue to receive an uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity after both suppliers collapsed on 7 September 2021. This switchover is part of Ofgem’s Supplier of Last Resort process.

PfP Energy currently serves around 80,000 domestic customers and has around 5,000 business customers. MoneyPlus Energy supplies around 9,000 domestic customers. These new customers will be given the help and support needed to make sure their move to British Gas is as easy as possible and all existing credit balances will be honoured.

In the coming weeks, we will be in touch with PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy customers on the process of moving over. Customers will need to take a meter reading and provide this to British Gas when prompted to make sure they are billed accurately. We will take care of everything else and will be on hand to help with any questions.

Customers can find out more about the move for PFP and MoneyPlus on the British Gas website.

"We welcome PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy customers and we’ll ensure the switch to British Gas is as smooth as possible. We’re a brand trusted by millions and we’ll be working hard to gain the trust of our new customers too - so that they not only join but choose to stay with us. Benefitting from the range of advantages that come with being a British Gas customer they’ll have 100% renewable electricity and access to exclusive offers on services like boiler cover, Hive products and British Gas rewards. Current global wholesale energy prices are putting significant pressure on many energy suppliers. As a responsible supplier built on a sustainable model, we will step in to protect consumers where we can."

NOTES

  • As part of Ofgem’s Supplier of Last Resort Process domestic customers’ credit balances are protected and customers will receive an uninterrupted energy supply. Ofgem encourage customers not to switch until they are set up with their new supplier.
  • PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy are the third and fourth suppliers we have gained via Ofgem’s Supplier of Last Resort process – after Breeze Energy in 2019 with 18,000 customers coming over, and Simplicity Energy earlier this year where we took on 50,000 customers.
