British Gas is delighted to have been named one of only two suppliers to have its Green Futures tariff classified as gold standard by Uswitch, in an independently verified accreditation scheme for renewable tariffs.

Through the future Green Future tariff, British Gas matches 100% of the electricity customers use with renewable sources, such as UK wind and solar, and 100% of customers carbon dioxide footprint from gas is balanced by carbon-cutting projects around the world (90%), and renewable biogas made from food and farm waste (10%).

The accreditation will help our customers understand the different approaches we are taking on renewable energy tariffs. It also demystifies what a green tariff is and how far suppliers go to support renewable generation.

"We’re delighted to have our Green Futures tariff acknowledged as being one of the greenest on the market. Over the past two years we have provided 100% zero carbon electricity to all UK customers as standard, and as the biggest retailer of zero carbon electricity we’ll continue to do this. We know our customers want simple, zero carbon energy but at an affordable price."

Peter Simon, Managing Director, British Gas Energy
