Centrica appoints non-executive director

Centrica plc is pleased to announce that Ian Meakins is to be appointed a Non-Executive Director of the company, effective 1 October 2010.

Centrica plc is pleased to announce that Ian Meakins is to be appointed a Non-Executive Director of the company, effective 1 October 2010. Mr Meakins, who is Chief Executive of Wolseley, the FTSE 100 heating, plumbing and building materials distributor, will also become a member of Centrica's Audit, Nominations and Remuneration Committees.

Roger Carr, Chairman of Centrica said: "I'm delighted to welcome Ian as a Non-Executive Director. He is an experienced CEO with a proven track record, and his current operational management role will further strengthen the composition of our Board. Having previously held a number of senior positions in Diageo, Travelex and Alliance Unichem, Ian will also add considerable experience in managing businesses with strong brands, as we continue to deliver our growth strategy for British Gas."

In accordance with obligations under Listing Rule 9.6.13R, Mr Meakins holds or has held the following directorships of a publicly quoted company in the previous five years:

Wolseley plc: 13 July 2009 to current

Alliance Unichem plc: 1 December 2004 - 28 July 2006

There is no other information required to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13R. Mr Meakins does not have an interest in the ordinary shares of Centrica plc.
