Relevant Skills and Experience:

Amber brings a wealth of real-world experience in energy, policy and business.  

Previous Experience:

After around 20 years working in business, Amber served as a Member of Parliament between 2010 and 2019. In addition to holding the roles of Home Secretary and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions and Minister for Women and Equalities, Amber served as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change from 2015 to 2016 having been Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Energy and Climate Change from July 2014 until May 2015. Amber led the UK team to the successful completion of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. This UN sponsored 2015 Conference of the Parties (COP21) achieved a landmark global commitment to reduce national carbon emissions.

External Appointments:

Non-Executive Director of Pinwheel, advisor to businesses including Energy1, Equinor, FGS, Centerview Partners and Phoenix Group, and is a Trustee of The Climate Group and RUSI.

Responsibilities:

Our Non-Executive Directors, through their diverse experience and skills, scrutinise the performance of management and constructively challenge and help develop our strategy. They uphold high standards of integrity and probity. They form the Audit and Risk, Nominations, Remuneration and Safety, Environment and Sustainability Committees.
