Reaching people with energy advice doesn’t always mean waiting for them to seek it out. Sometimes, the most effective way to offer support is to meet people where they are — at work.
That’s the idea behind a powerful collaboration between Socially Grown, Residential Energy Services (RES), and Centrica's social impact fund - Energy for Tomorrow. Together, they’ve launched a workplace-based energy advice programme that’s helping thousands of people across the UK gain the knowledge and confidence to manage their energy use.
Over 40 workshops have taken place so far — in offices, factories, and online — tailored to the needs of employees working different shifts and roles. These engaging sessions offer both group learning and one-on-one advice, covering topics like managing bills, understanding tariffs, accessing support schemes, and simple actions to make homes more energy efficient.
"Our goal is to educate employees on available funding streams and how they can make their homes warmer and healthier. By partnering with EFT, we can reach individuals who may not otherwise have access to crucial support."
Sarah Parry, Managing Director of RES

The impact has been wide-reaching: 2,000 employees engaged directly, 1,000 more reached through community members, and hundreds referred to additional support and energy-saving measures. The results are already showing up in improved wellbeing, better financial awareness, and positive lifestyle changes.
It’s also delivering value for businesses. By supporting employees’ energy needs, employers are enhancing their CSR and ESG goals — and helping build stronger, more informed workforces.
As Sarah Parry, Managing Director of RES, explains: "Our goal is to educate employees on available funding streams and how they can make their homes warmer and healthier. By partnering with EFT, we can reach individuals who may not otherwise have access to crucial support."
With momentum growing, this initiative is showing how a simple shift in delivery can unlock big results — both for people and for the planet.
