PH Jones, part of British Gas, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pricing Manager to join our Growth team on a permanent basis. The role will play an important part in the continued growth of our business through retention of existing social housing contracts and winning new work. This will include a range of traditional heating contracts as well as opportunities in the field of renewables and related technologies.
You can be based anywhere in the UK, working as part of a remote team, responsible for pricing new installations (gas and renewables), service and repair and electrical tenders. The role includes measuring the commercial risk of tenders, completing the pricing of tender documents, and providing the full and detailed commercial/financial summary to discuss at tender sign off. The job holder will be required to be the commercial lead on tenders and will have a good understanding of renewables and electrical works and support on gas installations and service and repair as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the pricing of new tenders for service and repair and / or installation contracts. This will include utilising existing knowledge of maintenance and/or installation contracts to produce a robust price which considers the risks involved in these contracts. This will cover the differing types of fuel systems, electrical works, and renewables
- Pricing work as a Principal Contractor or sub-contractor you will also be responsible for pricing the associated builders work, electrical installation, subcontract element and site preliminaries
- Carry out detailed risk analysis to include TUPE, geographical, current operational footprint, management availability, viability of contract and ensure that all risks are priced within the bid
- Calculate all estimated costs for overheads and profits
- Complete pricing of full tender document following build-up of model, posing queries to the client, and working in close conjunction with the Bid Managers
- Preparation of detailed commercial/financial summary to enable discussion and potential sign-off of tender proposal
- Develop the accuracy of estimates and quotations through continuous improvement
- Develop excellent communication channels with internal/external clients, contractors and customers including Operations, Bid, Finance, Legal and HR departments to ensure that all considerations are considered when preparing a bid
- Monitor and store technical information using computerised programmes
- Ensure that the organisation, its mission, strategy, programmes, products, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
What are we looking for?
- Previous experience of pricing electrical, renewables, maintenance and / or installation contracts as Principal Contractor
- Experience of working operationally or commercially on contracts for Social Housing Providers (preferred)
- Experience of taking responsibility and holding full accountability for the tender submission from a commercial perspective including risk management and mitigation
- Understanding of bid models and the key drivers that come together to make a successful bid
- Understanding of the various contract forms that are let within the marketplace
- Analytical thinker, with problem solving skills
- Possess a high level of numeracy skills is essential
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel is essential
- Able to identify and pursue new ideas, solutions, methods, and opportunities
- Demonstrates high attention to detail and is methodical and systematic in approach
- Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with senior management
- Excellent organisation and negotiation skills, and capable of working to tight deadlines
- Excellent influencing skills, able to challenge and change others’ perceptions about problems and issues
- Able to discuss and responsibly manage constructive challenge from Finance, Operational, Legal, and senior management prior to sign off-of the bid pricing
- Understanding of contractual frameworks
