  • Distributed Energy & Power has a remit to grow a global business unit, with a target of achieving revenues of £1bn by 2022. Split on a geographical basis (UK&I, North America, Rest of World), the Rest of World (RoW) region comprises several customer facing businesses Centrica has acquired in recent years, located in Hungary, Israel, Italy, Netherlands and Romania
  • In 2018 the region is looking to deliver new products to these existing territories and to expand the business into new territories
  • This role is to take ownership for the set up of a range of commercial modelling support to the DE&P (RoW) businesses to roll out new products to customers, enabling the territory teams to apply local market knowledge to a robust commercial model which can then be used to input into customer conversations, negotiations and contracts

The Role

  • Work with DE&P Global Propositions team and RoW Management team to prepare, develop and tailor detailed commercial model for new product offerings, ensuring that the financial models are fit for purpose with relevant local regulations and legislations
  • Work with the local sales teams to ensure that the technical and commercial /financial model produce a robust proposition for Centrica and the customer
  • Support the development and standardisation of the financial and commercial framework across RoW territories, ensuring that the financial returns of new propositions are effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders
  • Assist RoW Management team in negotiating contracts comprising multiple technologies and generating innovative contracting solutions
  • Work with other DE&P Commercial modelling teams to share best practice and understand new developments in energy markets and technology

The Person


  • Commercial acumen together with excellent analytical insight
  • Ability to influence a wide and varied audience, particularly sales and management team in remote office locations
  • Have a good understanding of market drivers for the DE&P offering in at least one jurisdiction and the ability to transfer this knowledge to other markets
  • Ability to understand the benefits and limitations of the product offering
  • Comfortable dealing with technical energy information and converting that into easy to understand financial returns
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to identify discrepancies in data and unusual trends


  • Degree level qualification in a numeric discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • University degree, MBA or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical qualification

Work Experience

  • Strong excel financial modelling experience, being able to create new commercial models from scratch and adapting existing models for regional energy market rules and regulations
  • Understanding of the energy industry and the main revenue and cost drivers that can be impact a business case for several different technologies (eg: battery, solar, CHP)
  • Experience of economic modelling and understanding of value to both Centrica and the Customer
  • Some experience of modelling financial statement profiles and the differences between P&L and Cash Flow profiles.
  • Prior experience of working in a customer focused business preferable


  • Degree level qualification in a numeric discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Financial or accounting certification (eg: CFA, CIMA, ACA) preferred but not essential
