The Pricing Lead provides leadership and supervision for the Pricing Team, which comprises 5 analysts. It is a customer-focused team, playing a key role in supporting the Sales business by producing pricing quotations, calculating billing rates, updating tariffs across gas and electricity and producing a number of operational demand forecasts. The Pricing Team facilitates the interface between the Sales and Trading organisations, and ensures that all costs and risks of BGE’s products are transparent and appropriately covered. In addition to providing leadership to the team, the Pricing Lead also runs the daily pricing processes together with the other analysts in the team. The successful candidate will also lead transformation of some of the team’s activities into new systems to meet the evolving requirements of BGE’s customers.
Lead, mentor and develop the Pricing team, managing the annual performance management process for the team, giving effective and timely feedback Prepare timely and transparent electricity supply contract quotations for gas and electricity, and bespoke prices for tenders, considering all costs and risks Support sales teams by providing pricing and other commercial details, input to negotiations with the customer on commercial terms, and support the contract approval process Support business planning and financial reporting processes by supplying certain aggregated electricity demand forecasts Administer operations associated with variable-priced supply offers and tariffs including the billing of same (expected to be on an interim basis) Support tariff change decisions for mass markets and as required, validate the implementation of tariff changes in BGE’s billing systems Support the design and pricing of new products and offerings (in collaboration with Retail and Front Office), as required Manage the data and configuration of the Contigo EnPrice system and other key pricing tools Plan and schedule tasks, and prioritise incoming requests based on an understanding of the commercial business impact and commitments made to internal customers Identify enhancements and improvements to business processes, tools, and the underlying data structures that would improve the accuracy and speed for pricing activities and reduce operational risk Ensure correct process documentation is in place and regularly updated. Provide routine controls assurance and risk assessment to the Head of Department.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Degree in a quantitative field and a high level of numeracy
- Prior experience of managing professional teams
- Good communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-specialists across the business
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent proficiency in Excel spreadsheets, macros, and VBA
- Experience of manipulating and analysing large data sets
