PH Jones, part of British Gas, is a provider of Gas Central Heating Service, Repair and Installations to the social housing market. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Operations Manager to join our team!

  • Location: Runcorn, with travel to other PH Jones offices as required
  • 6-9 month Fixed Term Contract initially

The Role

You’ll be responsible for the delivery of payroll to PH Jones, representing circa 500 employees on a weekly and monthly payroll. You’ll manage key inputs to the payroll process arising from adjacent processes, e.g. onboarding, benefits enrolment, reward and performance management. You’ll need to ensure that these processes contribute to the delivery of the payroll service and are changed or optimised as required.

We’ll need you to constantly monitor the statutory and regulatory environment in the UK to ensure that emerging legislative and statutory requirements are identified and embedded into payroll processes, ensuring that PH Jones meets its employer obligations.

You’ll be responsible for the operational governance of the payroll, in addition to supporting regular reviews of systems, process and efficiency with your peers.

Your day to day duties will include:

  • Build, maintain and adjust payroll controls
  • Manage ancillary variable pay components including expenses
  • Provide functional support for software and systems as required, including testing and sign-off
  • Working closely with the HR Process Management team to adhere to People Process such as TUPE, Reward, Benefits & Incentives

The Person

Ideally we’re looking for you to have experience of working within a medium to large corporate company and demonstrate management of change within the Payroll environment.

You’ll need to be an excellent communicator with a strong track record of building and maintaining effective internal and stakeholder relationships.

In addition, we’re looking for:

  • UK Payroll Certifications as a minimum
  • Prior experience in a UK payroll delivery role
  • Can apply in-depth knowledge of Statutory Payments, Governance & Compliance
  • Ability to multitask effectively across a range of duties and in a high volume fast pace environment
  • Attention to detail and commitment to ensuring accuracy in pay and internal records
  • Experience of developing and implementing employee communications

The Company

Salary: £38000-£45000 dependant on experience (pro rata)
