What does the programme involve?

Our 10-week Summer Placement Programme is designed to increase your future employment prospects and provide a valuable resource to the business. During your placement you'll work on real projects with real responsibility, while benefiting from a wide support network of colleagues, a line manager and the Graduate talent team. Our aim is to help you build your strengths, gain skills that can be transferred to any workplace and stand out from the crowd. Our summer placements will appeal to self-motivated students with a proactive, can-do attitude and a genuine desire to learn about our business and industry.

How does the programme work?

What can you expect from us:

In return for your hard work and initiative, we will give you the support to make the most of the experience. You'll be:

  • Supported by a graduate talent manager assigned to your business area and responsible for overseeing your performance and development
  • Paired with a 'buddy' from our previous graduate or summer placement intake to help you settle in and answer any questions
  • Assigned a line manager with experience of the area of business in which you are placed
  • Further supported by the Graduate talent team, who are always on hand to help you get the best from the placement

Beyond this support, we will provide you with accommodation close to your placement. With other students also based in the area, you'll have a ready-made network wherever you end up.

The Summer Placement Programme offers a real-life look at what it might mean to be a Centrica graduate. If you perform well in your placement, you could even return to your university with an offer to join the graduate programme after your graduation.

"The best thing about the summer placement was how much responsibility I was given. Right from the start, I had full ownership of projects that I knew would make an impact on the business, and would continue to do so after my ten weeks were up. You’re pushed out of your comfort zone, which is great – it helps you to develop skills you didn’t know you had."
- Samia Siddiqi, Commercial Marketing summer placement student (and now Commercial Marketing graduate)

In order to apply for this programme you must already have, or be expecting to achieve a minimum 2:1 MEng degree in a relevant engineering discipline on an accredited course
