Job Description

North America Distributed Energy (NADE) is a global business unit within Centrica, set with the mission to help customers discover and unlock value via the energy-consuming and energy-producing assets they have on their own sites.  In North America, we have existing and forthcoming solutions that we want to offer to customers within the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. 

Projects are secured through competitive tendering, negotiated pricing and proactive proposals prepared by North America Distributed Energy Sales and Commercial teams. Secured projects are generally of a Design and Build nature delivered through Management Contracting with North America Distributed Energy Project Managers supported by both internal teams and external third parties.

The Delivery team, in which this role resides, is responsible for supporting proposals, performing services and executing projects through unparalleled HSES, Engineering and Project Management delivering services and projects while exceeding our customer’s expectations.

The Senior Estimator will:

  • Support NADE in the preparation of new bids and proposals, with particular emphasis on supply chain costs for project proposals for industrial and commercial customers. 
  • Review internal project management and preliminary costs to ensure overall project estimation is accurate, contingency is assessed and clear assumptions are recorded
  • Manage the construction estimating aspects of bids and proposals so that;

– Bids and proposals are submitted that are;

  • Capable of achieving required margins
  • Capable of achieving required business objectives
  • Capable of achieving required project quality
  • Capable of achieving Health & Safety standards
  • Contractually low risk
  • Capable of achieving customer satisfaction

Bachelor’s Degree required – engineering, construction management or related field

Responsibilities

  • Estimating activities: Ensure the Estimating activities are carried out, including:
    • Being responsible for the construction estimating aspects of bidding and proposal preparation.
    • Reviewing the design of the bid or proposal.
    • Responsible for reviewing construction estimate aspects of successful bids or proposals with Project Management team
    • Responsible for post completion reviews of completed projects.
    • Influencing stakeholders on the overall project costs for internal approval
    • Working across multiple line of business to seek information in a collobortitve manner, building valuable relationships with Sales, Commercial, Finance, Project Management, Construction, Design & Engineering
    • Working with the Procurement group in the generation of pricing to build efficiencies for new estimation
