Controls and Instrumentation Technician
Centrica’s international Distributed Energy & Power (DE&P) brings together expertise from our UK and US businesses and works to deliver distributed energy solutions to businesses. We provide construction services to deliver projects across the UK for industrial and commercial customers wishing to reduce energy consumption and/or generate energy. As we grow, recruiting the right people is essential and we currently have an opportunity for a Controls & Instrumentation Technician.
Working as part of a team of multi skilled technicians, you will be carrying out maintenance to a plant containing a complex and diverse range of equipment, operating 24/7/365. Your primary areas of responsibility are to include
- Siemens S7 PLC’s
- Discrete instrumentation devices (temperature, flow, pressure etc) connected by 4-20mA and Ethernet and various RS protocols.
- Siemens T3000 DCS
- Actuators and feedback devices on Switchgear 110v – 6.6KV, transformers, motors / actuators, lighting, power distribution panels, generators (H2 cooled), ATEX equipment, EMF regs familiarity etc.
You will be required to ensure that H,S&E standards are maintained, that the site sustains Centrica Policy compliance and meets legislative requirements at all times. Using your strong communication skills, you will develop and implement resourcing and scheduling plans, this will involve the use of SAP. Along with scheduled works, you may also be required to work quickly in response to any emergency situations, making sure safe working practices are adhered to at all times. You will be expected to investigate and rectify any defects while maintaining the stations performance and meeting operational targets.
It is essential you hold a HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline or that you have completed a recognised training programme/apprenticeship e.g C&G Parts I, II & III. You need to be flexible, adaptable and enjoy making the business a success.
The plant is currently undergoing major refurbishment works with a plan to return to service late 2018/early 2019. This means initially, the role will involve substantial work with contractors and a balance of plant maintenance works supervision and delivery.
Salary £32,000-£39,000 + benefits.
