The successful candidate will report to the Regulated Portfolio Manager and will be responsible for assisting with forecasting the regulated power volumes, determining supply requirements, and portfolio analysis and reporting.  This role will sit on the trade floor and report into the Alberta Regulated Commercial team. 


    • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, math or equivalent and 2-5 years of related experience
    • Strong attention to detail

    • Excellent excel modeling and power point skills

    Desired Competencies:

    • Previous experience as an analyst in an energy company or within the power industry
    • Understanding of electric markets and power portfolio management
    • VBA skills



  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as required on volumes procured and book performance
  • Review the short term and long term forecasts and identify any opportunities for improvement
  • Support book optimal management with market and risk analysis
  • Responsible for providing analytical support during the Energy Price Setting Plan process, including negotiations, hearings and written submissions
  • Will help implement required process changes or reporting requirements for new Energy Price Setting plans
  • Help determine and communicate DERS position on market changes such as the RRO Review or the Capacity Market Design discussions to internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with other members of the trade group to develop short and long term analysis and strategies that contemplate market supply and demand, in support of the Alberta Regulated business
  • Responsible for operating within Direct Energy’s policies and procedures, risk management and corporate guidelines
