The role of a Finance Manager will focus on providing support to Director, Finance Director or Finance Partner to create value by improving the quality of decisions and ensure that a chosen Business strategy delivers the highest financial benefit at an acceptable level of risk.

 

They will work with the business teams, facilitating interaction and knowledge transfer where required between the business teams and Finance Operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to pro-actively develop positive and highly effective working relationships, influencing management on delivery and relevant strategy
  • Strategic thinking – able to step away from the detail and combine data with external trends and market data to see the bigger picture
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to provide check and challenge to the business in their decision making in an effective and constructive manner
  • A demonstrated ability in commercial analysis and evaluation, with strong commercial acumen to support delivery of business goals
  • Strong ability to summarize complex matters and communicate effectively to influence a range of audiences
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment and engage resource across the business and finance to deliver work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify, assess and analyze organization wide operational risks and controls
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills – able to work with and communicate effectively at all levels of an organization
  • Adept at interpretation of financial statements; able to use financial statements to gain insights into underlying business performance and communicate business performance clearly and concisely
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent communication skills

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Track record of building economic and financial models; presenting ideas to business leaders; creating robust forecasting and budgeting as well as underpinning materials prepared with sound financial accounting and planning
  • Industry related experience within the finance function
  • Specialist finance knowledge/ experience
  • Understanding of North American natural gas, power and services markets preferred
  • Experience in business finance and investment appraisal preferred

EDUCATION:

MBA with an undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, economics or other relevant technical discipline preferred, Undergraduate degree required

Responsibilities

General

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business
  • Understand business strategy and its translation into financial impacts, and support its effective communication across Finance
  • Have the business and finance knowledge to efficiently facilitate interchange and relationships between the business and Finance Operations
  • Develop deep understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and risks and opportunities and be conversant with the translation of commercial issues into financial impacts
  • Support the Director, Finance Director or Finance Partner by providing robust, thoughtful and highly analytical finance and strategic support to the businesses to drive improvements in financial performance
  • Act as part of the first line of defence in the identification and management of risk
