PR2018 - Procurement Graduate Programme 2018
Gain exposure to all aspects of the supply chain and influence our business at the highest levels
Duration: 2 years (3 x 8 month placements)
Starting salary: £27,000 plus £3000 starting bonus
Minimum requirements: 2:1 degree (2:2 if combined with Master's)
What does it involve?
Our Procurement team is responsible for purchasing everything we need to operate successfully as a business. And when you consider we pay our suppliers over £3bn a year, that’s a very significant responsibility.
Join us, on our two-year Procurement Graduate Programme, and you will gain comprehensive exposure to the team’s work. You’ll learn the importance of working with colleagues to understand their needs. You’ll research and analyse supply markets and gain insight into what drives our suppliers. Plus you’ll gain experience of devising sourcing strategies that ensure maximum value for money. All while being exposed to a wide variety of operations, business areas and category management activities.
To help you succeed, we’ll provide lots of great training along the way. In particular, we’ll make sure you have the skills needed to operate effectively at the highest levels, as you will be regularly communicating and negotiating with senior people within Centrica and our suppliers.
Comprising three eight-month placements which are designed to encompass the range of end to end category management activities we have across the organisation. We’ll provide you with extensive behavioural and skills training, plus regular opportunities to share learning with each other.
What you will need
We look for inquisitive people with strong commercial acumen and good influencing skills. You will also need to be highly mobile, as you may be required to work in any of our UK locations during your two years of training.
“I love that Procurement lets me combine my analytical side with my people skills. One minute you’re analysing pricing data, and the next you’re negotiating with suppliers, or influencing the decisions of senior stakeholders – it’s unique in the wide range of skills you’ll be able to develop. In Centrica Procurement we use end-to-end Category Management, so whether you’re in the Procurement team for Marketing, Fleet or Smart Meters, you’ll be able to really get to know your category of spend. You’ll be given the opportunity to take the lead on interesting and often high-profile projects that make a genuine difference to Centrica’s bottom line.”
