Job DescriptionDE Residential is the largest residential energy retailer in North America based
on customer numbers. It provides innovative products to help manage home energy
usage, while offering natural gas and electricity pricing plans with fixed and
variable price options.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree required preferably in a business discipline: Economics, Finance or Marketing 

MBA or relevant master’s degree a plus

  • At least 7+ years diverse leadership experience
  • Consulting experience beneficial
  • Experience managing a budget in excess of $100 million in revenue
  • Prior leadership experience for a team of at least 4 professionals
  • Consistent track record of demonstrating analytical and problem-solving skills as well as leadership abilities
  • A track record of success with large cross-functional business initiatives 
  • Proven Commercial business acumen with ability to develop strategic business plans and execute tactical plans 
  • Must be a quick study, a self-starter, demonstrate initiative and be confident dealing with various members and levels of business units
  • Excellent leadership skills as evident by the management of significant projects or management of a team. 
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships to drive change and resolve issues
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and aptitude for conflict resolution with effective negotiating skills. 
  • Ability to lead and direct functional teams to leverage expertise and ensure seamless delivery of initiatives on time and within budget
  • Proven ability to lead significant strategic business initiatives on time, on budget and driven by quality
  • Responsible for mitigating issues and ensure significant stakeholder visibility e.g. GM, SVP, VP etc. 
  • Proven ability to quickly identify risk, preparing and presenting risk assessment and providing options/recommendations
  • Experience in planning, problem solving, analytics, facilitation and action identification
  • Ability to assess facts, data, analysis and recommendations to make decisions
  • Must possess proven time management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written 
  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel 
  • Executive-level presentation development

Responsibilities

To provide strategic leadership and ensure tactical execution which achieves all North American Home commercial targets (P&L), customer value propositions, management agenda to ensure success in the Canadian Competitive Energy and non-Energy marketplace across a diverse cross functional North American team. This role is required to coordinate across all functional teams to deliver competitive commercial commitments on the entire energy/non-energy product and customer journey – Gross/contribution margin management, product development, pricing, offer approval, sales channel strategies, marketing plans, Opex management, customer care, Bad debt, capital investments, compliance and advocacy.

  • Responsible for the Profit and Loss of the Canadian electricity & natural gas, HVAC/Home Services, Annuities/Protection Plans and Connected Home business which includes a team of ~70 FTE including ~7 direct reports
  • Safety and general operational management of 2 corporate HVAC retail locations in Edmonton and Calgary which includes all oversight related to the maintenance, repair, installation and protection plans for HVAC, Water Heater and related business
  • Strategy development supported by financial modeling and planning including portfolio, hedging and margin management
  • Lead the resolution of highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the P&L or customer/business needs
  • Lead multiple stakeholder forums in project value assessments by recommending approval, refinement or decline of business cases based on performance targets (margin and target management, operational thresholds, CTS, CTA, NPS, etc.)
  • Continually challenge the business to seek efficiency gains, improve performance, recycle learning, and seeking opportunities beyond the “norm”
  • Builds networks of support across the organization to achieve change
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of corporate vision and strategies and effectively incorporate those priorities into decision making
  • Lead the development or confirmation of strategy to support the management agenda and targets. Approve recommendations to facilitate the achievement of those targets
  • Liaise with other regions, territories or markets to incorporate learnings, benchmark or sync with achieving P&L, business strategy, customer satisfaction or employee satisfaction goals
  • Lead the delivery of the Canadian acquisition, retention and customer experience strategy
  • Ability to communicate with executive management and create strong relationships throughout all functions within the organization. Including, providing ongoing reporting to senior management and cross functional partners, and develop actionable insights and test and learn approach to new initiatives
  • Meet and define goals to drive ongoing customer engagement, expansion, retention and loyalty in our customer base
