Market and Competitor Intelligence Manager

Salary circa; £60,000 - £70,000 (based on experience) + bonus & excellent benefits

Location; Rathbone Place, London (with occasional travel to the US)

You’ll work with the Head of Insight to develop a comprehensive view on the trends within the connected home market space and competitor activity. You will need to provide real intelligence and insight on the market (including adjacencies that connected homes impact) and the actions of competitors to identify implications for Connected Home’s (CH) strategy and plan.

The Role

What will you be doing; 

  • Develop the market, trends and competitor assessment framework
  • Identify and inform the main trends (technology, business models, competitive intensity, policy and regulation) and their impact
  • Prepare and maintain a regularly updated market and competitor factbase
  • Provide insight to the Strategy & Development team, and other relevant teams within CH and the broader Centrica Group
  • Lead the CH Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and other important stakeholders through reviews of the market and competitors
  • Develop and maintain a strong industry network across
  • Shape CH’s point of view on the market and competitive environment and provide inputs into CH, Group
  • Processes and regular reviews, and for external dissemination
  • Develops and maintains the market and competitor framework and factbase
  • Challenges and shapes thinking with the Strategy & Development team, and more broadly within CH
  • Project management of ad hoc projects and ongoing tracking studies

The Person

To be brilliant in this role you will have/be;

  • Experience with a top tier investment firm, research house, consulting firm or investment bank or a similar role client side in the consumer technology market
  • Experience in tracking the relevant market place and competitors, including the start-up and technology spaces
  • Understanding of the connected home or related market space – internet of things, connected consumer technologies, data driven insight, etc.
  • Understanding of the applicability of connected home in one of the relevant industry verticals (energy, insurance, security, telecoms, health) will be an advantage
  • Strong understanding of industry and competitive analysis methodologies
  • Ability to synthesise data and communicate decision-oriented insight
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, global, virtual team environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships working relationships both inside and outside of the business
