Job DescriptionDE Business is the largest commercial and industrial retailer in North America
based on customer numbers. It provides natural gas and electricity sales to
small, medium and large-size businesses, public institutions, and government.
Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in engineering, the basic sciences, economics, or business
  • At least 5 years of experience in the retail energy industry
  • At least 2 years of experience in a team lead or management role over technical professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task a wide variety of initiatives in at least one prior role
  • Working knowledge of power scheduling and/or load forecasting methodologies is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience interacting with senior management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Proven experience with Database Management Systems (Oracle, SQL Server) and querying, and/or statistical programming tools is a plus

Responsibilities

The Manager, Power Load Forecasting leads the team responsible for the creation, validation and accuracy of power load forecasts used for hedging and scheduling Direct Energy’s portfolio of North American retail customers. He/she serves as the internal Subject Matter Expert, and communicates and prioritizes effectively with business partners in Trading Operations, Product Control, and NA Home.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Combine hands-on management of a team of technical professionals with high level communication of team priorities and results to senior management
  • Maintain forecast accuracy KPIs and use to identify actionable steps for improvement
  • Drive system enhancement projects to improve forecast accuracy, from securing funding through to implementation
  • Promote collaborative work environment, and facilitate training and career development of team members
  • Provide superior customer service to internal business partner customers
