Our 10-week Summer Placement Scheme gives you a practice run at taking the first step from university to the world of work. You will get the opportunity to learn those vital skills that will make you more employable. You will get a real-life look at a graduate career at Centrica, and a first-hand learning experience that gives you the opportunity to understand if you could join us in the future. If you perform well in your placement, you may return to your university with an offer to join the graduate programme the following year.
We encourage you to get involved with community and charity activities; one of these is the summer placement charity challenge, which raises money for our chosen charities. In the last 3 years students have raised around fifty thousand pounds through various team initiatives. This challenge offers the opportunity to further enhance vital skills for the work place by encouraging individuals to network with other students as well as creating innovative solutions.
As an operational manager, what do you need to achieve today? Winning the respect of the people you manage? Increasing your understanding of customer needs? As a Customer Operations summer placement student you will play an important part in looking after our customers and the employees who work with them across our UK operations. Our customer-facing employees make up the largest part of our workforce and you will become integral to a team that deliver world class customer service to our millions of customer relationships. Customers, contact centre employees, engineers, Project Teams – they will all look to you for solutions, quick thinking and direction. Some of the most fundamental goals for our business – customer satisfaction, cost management and simplification, operational excellence and strategic direction - will fall within your remit. What you do each day will have measurable, high-profile results; this is the perfect environment in which to get noticed, fast. We will use information about your career aspirations, your areas of strength and the development areas that you have to allocate you a role which we feel will give the opportunity needed to gain some vital employability skills and ensure that you are able to add value to the placement.
Who we look for
The summer placement scheme is aimed at students expecting a 2:1 minimum degree in any discipline. We will also consider recent graduates for our programme with the view to them starting the graduate programme the following year if successful.
Salary: £14,000 pro rata
