  • Understanding of the Centrica Group, the North   American consumer technology market, NA residential and SME energy retail  (highly preferable) and global trends in consumer adoption of technology,   particularly in the energy vertical
  • Understanding of the consumer trends, competitive   landscape, market environment and policy, technology and business model   evolution across the value chain globally and in local markets
  • 5 years’ experience in supporting senior   business leaders in assessing their strategic context and providing decision   oriented analysis and recommendations. Experience with a top-tier strategy   consultant or the strategy function of a blue-chip corporate will be preferred
  •   Proven analytical track record
  •   Experience of working in high-performing teams and engaging multiple stakeholders
  •   Experience of working under pressure within a fast-paced environment
  •   Experience developing structured communications and storylining
  •   Track record of delivering projects,   presentations, or reports for senior management
  •   Strong analytical, numerical and strategic problem solving skills
  •   Ability to gain insights from numbers
  •   Advanced use of excel
  •   Ability to think creatively and to adapt innovative solutions to challenges
  •   Commercial acumen and an understanding of business drivers
  •   Strong relationship building, communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills
  •   Strong time and project management skills
  •   Ability to handle complex issue, multi-task, meet deadlines, and work on a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues
  •   Comfortable with ambiguity
  •   Excellent communication and presentation skills, in oral, written, and PowerPoint


Work with the Head of Strategy to support delivery of   the strategy and planning agenda for Connected Home with particular ownership   of the North American strategic and planning agenda

  • Deliver all outputs for the strategic framework and strategic shape process relevant to Connected Homes’ North American participation
  • Partner with the Commercial Director, North America and work with her/ his team to support implementation of the North American participation strategy both within DE and other channels/ partners/ geographies
  • Deliver projects which require problem structuring, analysis and synthesis to deliver options   for decision making
  • Ensure that Connected Homes strategies in North America dock with the Direct Energy and   partner plans
  • Handle ad hoc requests and projects
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Connected Homes sector and market context in North   America and build strong external relationships

–      Builds the strategic framework, priorities and shape (1-5 years) for Connected Home for

        North America

–      Challenges and helps shape the functional strategies of the business

–      No direct full-time people management responsibilities but significant senior stakeholder


  •   Effective partnering with Centrica and   Direct Energy Strategy teams to ensure alignment with CH
  •   Work with external agents / partners /   distributers in new geographies within NA
  •   Management teams of Centrica and Direct Energy and Bord Gáis
  •   Develop and maintain strong working relationships with other functional groups within Centrica
