Overview

  • Responsible for ensuring all trade data sent to the regulators repositories timely & accurately
  • Responsible for a small team who will undertake trade confirmations of all standard and structured trading
  • Responsible for error handling and resolution
  • Work with other Back Office Managers to ensure processes are as efficient as possible
  • Responsible for health of core controls and is the initial contact for escalation
  • Responsible for ensuring all trades are matched with Back Office teams of other counterparties in a timely manner
  • Be responsible for ensuring all relevant trades are reported to the appropriate regulatory registries in an accurate and timely manner according to the requirements of the relevant legislation & any issues resolved & escalated at the earliest
  • Identify & deliver enhancements to all relevant processes for both confirms & reporting to facilitate automation, efficiency, effectiveness & robust controls
  • Responsible for ensuring KPI data is prepared & available timely
  • Work on relevant projects with other teams across the business to facilitate smooth delivery of oncoming changes in the near future that has an impact on confirms or reporting
  • Ensuring all relevant controls are fit for purpose, adhered to & that the self & team operates within the given control framework at all times
  • To prepare EM&T systems, processes and controls for upcoming regulatory changes and to implement such changes

The Role

  • Work with colleagues to perform the major EM&T controls, trade confirmations & reporting
  • Maintain functioning and robust control in accordance with Strategy and Regulatory requirements
  • Develop relationships with the Front Office and Compliance
  • Inform Head of Back Office and Operational Risk of any issues regarding health of controls/breaches
  • Work with team members & relevant teams to develop appropriate KPIs for reporting
  • Participate in external bodies, monitoring changing requirements
  • Work with colleagues across EM&T to implement new/changed regulatory reporting requirements
  • Reporting of all relevant trades timely & accurately to the appropriate authority in accordance with the relevant legislation
  • Managing resolution of issues & escalating issues to Compliance, Operational Risk & Head of Back Office promptly
  • Generation and validation of trade confirmations for all commodity trading deals entered by Front Office and Contract Management as captured within ETRM and non-ETRM systems & non system deals held in relevant controlled trade repositories
  • Management of the eCM/eCM Lite (Electronic Confirmation) processes, including exception processes
  • Ensuring effective follow-up of outstanding trade confirmations by team members
  • Management of Centrica’s business interface with EFETnet to deliver on-going efficiencies in trade validation
  • Continuously working on process improvements – identify & deliver
  • Working with IS/legal/Compliance & other relevant teams to deliver future projects ensuring it lands smoothly all fits into the operating controls framework
  • Facilitating both internal & external audits as & when due
  • Delivery of new/amended regulatory systems and processes for reporting across EM&T
  • Work principally with colleagues within the Front Office (Traders and Trading Assistants), Compliance, Back Office settlement teams and Back Office static data team. In addition the jobholder will work with external counterparties, regulatory bodies and industry groups to deliver high quality regulatory reporting

The Person

  • Knowledge of Energy Industry/Trading Markets and their operation
  • Knowledge of Trade lifecycle Experience of Trade Confirmation process
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory reporting requirements

  • Interpretation and understanding of trading contracts (vanilla/structured)
  • Grasps and conveys complex ideas and concepts
