HSES2017 Health, Safety, Environment & Security (HSES) Graduate Programme
Health, safety, environment and security – at the heart of everything we do.
Our operations sourcing, generating and supplying gas and electricity are inherently hazardous and we fully recognise our responsibility to protect the health and safety of employees, customers and the wider public. This is a top priority for Centrica - we believe that all work-related injuries can be prevented. We are committed to understanding, managing and reducing the environmental and ecological impacts of our activities through innovation, technology and cultural change.
We recognise that the above requires a committed, thriving community of professionals. We are looking for graduates with a degree in engineering, science or related disciplines, who are interested in developing their career in HSES. Whether it is leading the drive to a low carbon economy, promoting the health, wellbeing and security of our workforce or ensuring the safety of our energy production and supply operations, as a graduate, your contribution will be vital.
Our programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop professionally, as well as personally, through team-working, event organisation and engagement with key stakeholders inside and outside the business. You will acquire field-level, practical skills, as well as a broad appreciation of Centrica’s strategic direction on HSES.
Our award-winning HSES graduate scheme starts with sixteen weeks of intense induction where you’ll spend time at all of our businesses, and receive all the training you need to ensure you can undertake your work safely, whether it’s in a customer’s home or at an offshore gas platform.
After this, you’ll start the first of three eight-month placements at one of our businesses. Be assured, you’re here to contribute and you’ll be expected to add value to the business from day one within a wider team, where you’ll receive all the support and advice you’ll need. You’ll also have a coach, who will be a previous graduate who knows all the ropes, plus a personal mentor, who will be a senior manager, and they’ll be available for support and advice throughout your entire graduate career.
