The Analyst / Senior Analyst, FP&A will be a key member of our Corporate Finance team which is responsible for Business Performance Management for Direct Energy.  The role will drive financial visibility and analysis with a primary focus on providing relevant, accurate and timely financial results to the business owners and Centrica on a monthly basis.  Additionally, the role will enable improved decision making by arming leadership with robust cost analysis, planning and reporting that will guide informed business decisions.

The ability to communicate effectively, engage stakeholders, challenge assumptions and cultivate relationships is also critical to the success of this role.  This role will have significant and frequent exposure to senior management and finance business partners along with various groups across the organization.  This role requires the ability to work under strict deadlines and desire to develop within the organization. This role will report to the Manager of FP&A – Business Performance Management.

Requirements

  • Energy industry experience a plus but not a requirement
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business
  • CFA, CMA, CPA or MBA is preferred, 2-5 years of experience in finance related analytical role
  • Ability and desire to create new analytics from scratch and drive execution in a highly manual environment
  • Strong team player capable of rapidly building close, constructive and challenging working relationships
  • Exceptional standards and an ongoing desire to drive improvements in processes, systems, outputs, and quality
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Systems background and financial modeling; experience with SAP/BPC/BOBJ and/or BW a strong plus
  • Analytical skills, including ability to structure and prepare analysis to support and lead decision-making with senior management as well as providing qualitative and quantitative analysis of business situations
  • Interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills and ability to interact with multiple departments and senior management
  • Ability to prioritize time and work on multiple tasks with ongoing deadlines
  • Ability to work with different groups and levels across the organization to bring about consensus and build a successful team supporting the business
  • Worked/led cross-functional teams in delivering business-wide initiatives
  • Ability to communicate complex Financial/Accounting terminology to non-financial executives effectively
  • Desire to succeed and able to work and deal with ambiguity in highly fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop monthly management reporting that balances the needs of finance and our business partners
  • Consolidate and analyze monthly financial and non-financial data
  • Partner with the business and the Finance Business Partners to understand monthly variances to budget/forecast Plan
  • Present monthly and YTD results and variance analysis to business & finance leadership
  • Provide financial support for ad hoc projects and initiatives
  • Critically review and improve management reporting
  • Support financial integration activities for acquired companies as needed
