Working for the Director of Financial Services Governance, your role will be to support the delivery of all Compliance Governance activities across Ethics & Compliance, UK Financial Services; and the broader delivery of the Centrica Group Ethics & Compliance Program within UK & Ireland.

In this role you will act as a role model for the values & behaviours that we espouse in our vision & purpose statement; empowering and supporting people at every level. Of course you will also provide intellectual rigour and challenge to the ‘accepted wisdom’ about customer service, finding novel ways to think and act; challenge peers and colleagues.

This includes but is not limited to Regulatory Compliance relating to the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA).

The Role

Assist in building, enhancing and maintaining:

  1. Centrica Group Ethics & Compliance Program within UK Financial Services.
  2. Regulatory Compliance Framework consisting of the Compliance Terms of Reference; Regulatory Compliance Footprint; Regulatory Compliance Policy; Annual Compliance Plan and Compliance Handbook.
  3. Frameworks, Standards, Systems, Tools
  4. Training e.g. AP / RP (Prepare content and deliver induction / adhoc training).
  5. Communications
  6. Governance Maps
  7. Statements of Responsibility for Approved Persons
  8. Senior Insurance Managers regime
  9. Reporting (Compliance Governance report)
  10. Regulatory Risk Universe.
  11. Approved Persons Framework (consisting of the Approved Persons Manual, Annual Fit & Proper Attestations and the Half-Yearly ARIS Control Attestations).
  12. Up-to-date rules mapping for all relevant jurisdictions in which UK Financial Services businesses operate; educate AP/ RP population and business stakeholders regularly on same.

Ensure that the bigger strategic picture is held firmly in mind within the context of the Centrica group, not just the UK & Ireland business.

The Person

To do this role, you will probably already have a Degree, an ICA/CII Diploma or the equivalent Financial Services qualification (or the equivalent experience). We’re also looking for solid Financial Services Sector experience in one or more of the following: General Insurance & Protection, Retail Lending (including consumer credit/debt management, mortgage lending and mutual), the Retail Banking sector and any Financial Services regulatory supervision experience.

Expert technical knowledge of the requirements of the FCA and PRA and how these affect the general insurance industry including strong understanding of the FCA handbook, behavioural economics, conduct risk and the principles of treating customers fairly.

Substantial regulatory compliance experience focused on Regulatory Reporting & Notifications, FCA Interactions, Systems & Controls, Governance, Risk and Compliance operations experience. All combined with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical considerations and solutions, displaying evidence of analysing complex information: reaching robust well informed judgements and identifying and presenting relevant issues in a timely and professional manner.

You’ll be comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate effectively within a constantly changing environment, using gravitas and credibility to build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and influence accordingly.

Experience in multi-tasking, being able to navigate complex tasks & prioritise effectively, whilst being self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, and able to work quickly and under pressure.

Negotiating, influencing and using your communication skills to command professional respect, ultimately to developing close or ‘trusted adviser’ relationships with key business leaders. Naturally you’ll then wins hearts and minds across the business and inspires others to act for the betterment of our business and its customers.
