The Role

  • Follow the safety & environmental policies, guidelines and procedures as directed by the business unit and display role model behaviours to set an example to others
  • You will champion our customers and the promotion of excellent customer service
  • You will be responsible for establishing relationships with move in and move out parties to promote the relevant products and services that are applicable for British Gas Business customers
  • You will offer customers the chance to do business with BGB through offering contract prices to limit customers exposure to non contract (Deemed) rates
  • You will make autonomous and commercially aware decisions in line with agreed policies and procedures that balance customer needs and business expectations
  • You will follow up on conversations with customers to ensure that expectations are met in line with agreed actions and opportunities for contracts with BGB
  • Answer customer queries through a variety of communication channels, particularly voice calls, e.mail, correspondence and on the back of online BMV to provide a first time resolution
  • Manage customer queries within targeted timescales, resolving issues at first point of contact wherever possible
  • Use outbound contact strategies to ensure the best outcome for the customer and business – in line with customer demand profiles
  • Mitigate any risk to the customer and the business through robust adherence to company and department standards, policy and procedures
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements of the role
  • Collect and use data in accordance with the Data Protection Act

The Person

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in a service and sales contact centre environment
  • A desire to speak to our customers and deliver sales through great customer service
  • Excellent written skills – via email or letter
  • The ability to build great relationships: confidence and creditability, effective customer relationship and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the range of products and services and desire to discuss these with the customer
  • Experience of adding value through promotion of relevant products/services and debt collection
  • Computer literacy in order to operate customer related information system
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Emotional resilience and be adaptable •Flexibility and a committed attitude to excelling in a changing environment
  • Effective decision making – for our customers and our business
  • The ability to show a hands on approach to problem solving; identifying issues and using initiative and available resources to generate recommendations
  • Ability to work as a part of a team, contributing and sharing best practice, knowledge, resources and ideas
