Requirements

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and deliver to agreed timescales whilst managing competing objectives from different Business Units
  • Ability to effectively communicate information & recommendations to peers and upwards
  • Proven track record of developing constructive relationships, of influencing change and delivering objectives
  • Higher education (degree, diploma) or professional qualification in Environmental Management or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Experience of developing/implementing ISO14001 Environmental Standard and integration within HSE management systems
  • Advanced computer and system literacy and a good knowledge of environmental performance measurement and reporting
  • Strong sector knowledge of best practice approaches to environmental management especially in greenhouse gas emissions reporting and waste minimization and recycling
  • Experience in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) office building programs / certifications

Responsibilities

  • To support the development, implementation and maintenance of management systems, reporting and assurance processes in support of Centrica’s environmental policy, expectations and targets  
  • To provide environmental support and advice to the Energy Services & Supply NA business (Direct Energy) in achieving its legal, business and corporate objectives and goal
  • To enable the timely and accurate reporting of environmental data through supporting/coordinating myHSES admin in maintaining indicators and delegation forms, and ensuring data owners are aware of and fulfill their reporting obligations.
  • Supporting the development and deployment of the EMS and ISO 14001 program within DE
  • Working with the Fleet and Property teams to support the carbon reduction plans, through provision of planning, carbon accounting and reporting advice
  • Enabling the enhancement of waste management across Direct Energy through implementation of the waste management standard and establishment of monitoring and reporting processes 
  • Supporting the HSES assurance program to ensure compliance through provision of subject matter expertise in audit planning and execution
  • Work with internal stakeholders to define and manage delivery of environmental initiatives incorporating best practice especially around Carbon and Waste
  • Develop and where required, deliver environmental training and briefings
  • Play a key part in the development of environmental initiatives in support of the business goals and strategy
