  • How do I find a job that suits my needs?

    Visit the search and apply page to find positions that might be right for you. The search results page will show all the open positions that match your criteria. Click on the job titles for detailed descriptions and the option to apply for a job.

  • Can I just send my CV in anyway and hope something comes up?

    Sadly, we can only accept applications for open vacancies which are advertised on our website. But please register your details and search criteria with us as mentioned above.

  • How flexible are you in terms of working locations and hours?

    As you can imagine, it depends on the role. But we offer practical support in many ways to help our people meet their personal responsibilities. We are constantly looking for new opportunities to offer more flexibility, whether it is working from home or job sharing. Our priority is to enable you to work effectively wherever you are, and in ways that suit you.

  • What training and development opportunities would I be given?

    We have a range of professional and personal skills development programmes and our apprenticeship scheme is one of the biggest in the UK. We positively encourage our people to keep learning and participate in the programmes that are right for them.

  • What opportunities are there for me to advance my career?

    We’re a big and complex business, so the opportunities for you to move up the career ladder are numerous. Or you could explore the possibility of moving into a role in a completely different part of the organisation. We believe strongly in giving our people the scope to set and realise their own goals. If you want to make the most of your career, we'll encourage you all the way.

  • Are there any international opportunities?

    We have operations in the UK, Europe, North America and the Republic of Ireland so the opportunities exist. But realising them will depend on your particular skills and motivation.

  • Do you recruit graduates?

  • I believe that I have a condition of circumstances which require adjustments to the assessment process. What should I do?

    If you have a condition or circumstances that may affect your application you should alert the Centrica Recruitment Team when asked during the application process. They can then make the hiring manager aware so that possible adjustments can be discussed with you.

    There are no adjustments required to our online personality and ability tests because they have already been adapted. There is no time limit when completing any online personality questionnaires, so you can take as long as you need to complete them. Our online ability tests are specifically designed to avoid the adverse impact that timed tests can have on candidates whose reading speed may be affected by visual impairment and conditions such as dyslexia, as well as on those who speak English as an additional language.

    The tests avoid an adverse impact on those with a slower reading speed by using a number of features:

    • Time limits are extended by 25-50% for all candidates, which research has indicated does not advantage non-dyslexic candidates, but does ensure that dyslexic candidates can demonstrate their full ability
    • Verbal tests contain business English only and do not require any culture-specific knowledge
    • Numerical tests keep verbal information to a minimum to prevent scores being affected by speed reading
    • All tests can be adjusted within your browser to adopt large print-sizes, high-contrast settings, and are fully compatible with screen-readers and refreshable Braille
  • Do you carry out background checks?

    Yes, the satisfactory completion of background checks is a pre-requisite for all. Undertaking these checks assists us in protecting our business by establishing the good repute of each individual. Specifically, they help to:

    • Protect our customers and colleagues
    • Give customers confidence in our business, our employees and those who represent us
    • Minimise our exposure to the risk of fraud, misuse of customer data and unauthorised systems activity
    • Enable us to fulfil our legal and regulatory obligations
  • If you offer me a job, what background checks will you make?

    Checks on new workers will always include verification of the individual’s legal right to work, carried out in accordance with the rules of the country in which they are to be based. Other checks will only be conducted where legally permissible, and will be in line with a consistent global standard. However, individual check packages will vary from country to country dependent on the availability and veracity of the packages that exist, and any applicable regulatory regimes. For country, specific guidance on what checks we will run, please speak to your recruiter.

  • Do I need a work Visa?

    We are unable to employ anyone who does not have the legal right to live and work in the country in which the role is to be based. In some circumstances we may be able to support a work visa application, but these are strictly limited by the legal restraints that apply in each area of operation and will not apply to all roles or all countries. For country specific guidance, please speak to your recruiter.

  • I’m worried that a recruitment offer may not be genuine. What should I do?

    It is important to be aware of fraudulent recruitment activity, so you’re right to be alert. Centrica will never offer you a job or a contract without first having gone through a detailed recruitment process which will involve at least one face-to-face meeting or assessment. If an offer looks fraudulent, it probably is. Offers coming from e-mail accounts which are not from the Centrica group - such as .yahoo, .msn, .hotmail accounts - are fraudulent. Do not share personal information with these accounts and report anything suspicious to careers@centrica.com.

  • How would you use my personal information?
