Year in Industry

Every year we recruit a number of ‘Year in Industry’ (YINI) students. The scheme works to place pre-university and undergraduate students in paid career development placements in a variety of sectors.

Meeting at Cardiff Call Centre

Centrica is currently employing 14 Year in Industry students to complement the regular intake of 70 Graduates and 60 summer interns and these form a vital part of our Graduate talent pipeline. The current year group are working across Centrica’s diverse business from roles in Insight to Finance to Information Systems and even including the Graduate team themselves.

We are anticipating that we will be hiring circa twenty YINI roles to start in the July-September 2016 period and you will be able to apply for suitable roles by following the links below:

Studied English Language and Linguistics at the University of Sheffield.

Area of Centrica:

Administrator in the Graduate Team (Windsor, Corporate Centre)

Career Aspirations and future goals:

I have since joined Centrica’s analyst graduate programme. My first placement is in the CE Power Team as a Business Development Analyst. During the graduate programme I would like to experience a wide breadth of roles in both upstream and downstream.

General overview of the placement so far:

During my year in the graduate team I worked mainly in the recruitment area of the Graduate Team including working closely with the Attraction Manager to manage our on campus activities and the Selection Manager to organise our assessment events. On top of this, I also spent time with the Graduate Development Team which allowed me to get a good understanding of all of the different graduate programmes and helped me come to the decision of which programme was right for me.

Despite moving into a completely different type of role, the skills that I developed during the year have already proved highly useful in my first analyst placement.
