Minimum requirements: Penultimate- or final-year student expecting a 2:1 degree (2:2 if combined with a Master’s) in an engineering, maths, science or IT-related discipline
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
What better way to boost your career prospects than by spending 10 weeks working on a real project with real responsibilities as part of our digital technology summer placement programme?
The programme puts you at the heart of our in-house digital technology services (team), which supports the business from the initial purchase of energy to the accurate billing of customers. This means you can enjoy exposure to a wide range of business-critical work, while also getting a better understanding of what life as one of our digital technology graduates would be like.
It will definitely take a lot of hard work and initiative on your part. But in return you get to develop skills that help you really stand out from the crowd. And if you do well, you could even be returning to university with an offer to join our graduate scheme.
There will be lots of people on hand to support you during your time here including:
Graduate talent manager – responsible for overseeing your performance and development
Buddy – a previous graduate or summer placement participant who can help you settle in and answer any questions you may have
Line manager – who will have specific experience in your business area
Graduate talent team – who will always be there to help you get the most out of your placement

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
You’ll need to have a proactive, can-do approach and a genuine desire to learn about our business and industry. In particular, we look for students who are interested in technology and capable of presenting complex ideas clearly and simply.
The best thing about the summer placement was how much responsibility I was given. Right from the start, I had full ownership of projects that I knew would make an impact on the business, and would continue to do so after my ten weeks were up.
