PROGRAMME INFORMATION

Duration: 10 weeks (with 5 days’ paid holiday)

Locations: UK-wide with accommodation provided locally

Starting salary: Competitive

Minimum requirements:  Penultimate- or final-year student expecting a 2:1 degree (2:2 if combined with a Master’s)

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

What better way to boost your career prospects than by spending 10 weeks working on a project with real responsibility as part of our commercial marketing summer placement programme?

The programme places you at the heart of our British Gas business at an extremely exciting time both for the energy market and for our commercial marketing team. While working there, you will have a rare opportunity to help shape our strategy for the future.

It will definitely take a lot of hard work and initiative on your part. But in return you get to develop skills that help you really stand out from the crowd. And if you do well, you could even be returning to university with an offer to join our graduate scheme.

There will be lots of people on hand to support you during your time here including:

  • Graduate talent manager – responsible for overseeing your performance and development

  • Buddy – a previous graduate or summer placement participant who can help you settle in and answer any questions you may have

  • Line manager – who will have specific experience in your business area

  • Graduate talent team – who will always be there to help you get the most out of your placement

We look for proactive, can-do students who have a genuine desire to learn about our business and industry.

The best thing about the summer placement was how much responsibility I was given. Right from the start, I had full ownership of projects that I knew would make an impact on the business, and would continue to do so after my ten weeks were up.
