Centrica has been producing gas on the UK Continental Shelf for more than 30 years, starting with the major gas fields in Morecambe Bay which are still a key part of our operations. Today, our UK and Netherlands teams also produce gas and oil from both operated and non-operated fields in the central and northern North Sea (Chestnut, Trees and Armada), the southern North Sea (York, Cygnus and the A Fields) and the Dutch sector (The Markham Area and F3-FA).
Centrica’s E&P business on the UK Continental Shelf produces close to 66,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
To find out more about how we are evolving our energy supply and about our plan to explore the potential of natural gas from shale through our 25% stake in the Bowland exploration licence visit our Energy Security page.
As part of our operations in the North Sea and Morecambe Bay, we are committed to maximising the potential of our assets. As these fields come to the end of their lives, our focus turns to decommissioning them safely and in an environmentally-friendly way.
