What to expect

Where better to continue your journey towards becoming a Chartered Engineer?

As a leading integrated energy company with a growing gas, oil, power generation and storage portfolio, we actively engage in the development of pioneering, innovative and well motivated engineers to become integral members of a high performing team.

There are two engineering streams within our four-year accredited programme: Power Generation and a partnership between Centrica Energy Upstream and Centrica Storage. As a graduate you will be sponsored by one of these key sections of the business. Senior stakeholders will support and guide you towards chartered status and will also plan ahead regarding your first permanent role within that business unit upon completion of the programme.

Within Centrica Energy Upstream you will be part of a team that is making exciting strides within exploration and production; graduates sponsored by Centrica Storage will gain unique insights into a high-profile and strategically important gas storage environment. Whilst graduates joining Power Generation will gain exposure to a large and varied production portfolio, ranging from gas-fired power stations to windfarms. To help you develop breadth there may be the opportunity to undertake a placement in other parts of the business. A carefully-structured development programme will give you the opportunity to achieve your full potential.

As part of a diverse multi-disciplined team responsible for supplying millions of customers working quickly and reliably under pressure becomes second nature. Most of all you will be able to learn new skills and constantly build on your knowledge. We are looking towards a future where there will be great challenges to overcome. So, we are looking for passionate and creative mechanical, chemical, electrical and C&I engineers who can deliver solutions, often within tight timeframes, and implement them safely and successfully. That's what makes this a fascinating, stretching and rewarding scheme.

I enjoy the exposure to a different side of Engineering; managing significant assets (wind farms to gas platforms) through their life cycle.
